.Baby Poppy turned 1.

At the beginning of July baby Poppy turned 1. She is the sweetest little thing. All smiles and cuddles with the most adorable wispy, blonde hair.
For her birthday I made her a little size 1 Uptown Girl - I love how the smaller sizes use hardly any fabric, perfect for some stash busting sewing!
This jacket is made using quilting cotton for both layers with some left-over quilt batting in between for snuggly warmth.
And for when it's cold, but not cold enough for a big jacket, I also made her a girl-style Hero Vest.
Quilting cotton exterior with polar fleece lining and cute circular pockets.
Oh, and here's a shot of the other side of the Uptown Girl jacket, a little less bright and busy.

.Harvey models: Villikko Romper.

Time to share some more shots of Mr Harvey modelling some of the clothes I made for him while I was pregnant...
This is the Villikko Romper for Ottobre Spring 1/2013. The robot fabric comes from Spoonflower here. This suit is a lovely fit but does have the difficulty of no openings around the neckline so can be a little tricky to get on and off.
When I made the super hero version of the suit, I did anticipate the neck would be a little tight so sewed in a placket down the back with two press studs. It makes a world of difference to getting on and off!
You can read more about the robot suit here and super hero suit here.
And right on schedule Harvey has just woken for a feed so this is a super short and sweet post! Later!

.Hero Vest in jersey knit.

This Hero Vest was one of the first I made and it has been worn to death over winter. Unlike Oscar, Tommy is our cold boy. He doesn't handle winter so well and is always freezing. His Hero Vests have saved the day over and over again, in fact, I'm planning on sewing him another one ASAP so that there is always a clean one to be worn!
I didn't even bother getting Tommy a jacket this winter. I knew we wouldn't be spending a great deal of time outside with a new baby and his vests have been just the right amount of warmth to do the job. He saves the hood for the special occasion of rain only!

This Hero Vest is sewn with a knit fabric exterior. As nice as the cotton version is, there is something cosier about soft and stretchy knit fabric, I think it's a little warmer too. Our first few days of Spring were delightful, unfortunately the weather is taking a cold turn again so I think we've got plenty of Hero Vest wearing time ahead of us!

.Harvey: 3 months.

Harvey turned 3 months last week! We are definitley out of newborn stage now, staying awake for longer periods of time and much more interaction.
When he is super happy (usually after a big sleep) Harvey has the cutest little conversations with us. Lots of coo-ing with his husky voice. I can't get enough of it!
He has also discovered his hands and is constantly chewing and sucking them, or pulling his bib up to his mouth and sucking that.

And still growing, growing, growing - chubbier and longer. He has grown out of most of his size 000 clothes now and is into 00. Which is kind of exciting because it means I got to get out all of the size 56cm clothes I sewed for him (expect lots of shot of him wearing them all over the next few weeks!). This little suit is an absolute fave - practical and cute. The zipper is a nice change from all of those snaps and I love the contrast cuffs. (You can read more about the suit here.)

I knew Harvey's awesome night time sleeping was too good to be true! He got a cold a couple of weeks ago and started waking a lot at night time and has never gone back to his good routine of only waking once a night. It was a bit of a shock to the system, I think I felt more tired then than I did when he was a newborn! I'm trying to re-train him now though and not feed him every time he wakes up (it was every two hours for awhile). It's tough when I'm half asleep and know that feeding him is the quick/easy fix, but hopefully in a week or two we can get things sorted out again!
On a positive sleeping note, he is starting to go to bed a bit earlier and is usually down for the night by 8:30pm, which means I'm starting to get a bit more time in the evening to myself again - although half the time I'm too tired to do anything productive and end up plonking myself on the couch!
And here's the month-by-month comparison of the little man...
