life with a 9 1/2 month old means cooking and mashing concoctions of fruit and vegies about once a fortnight. i choose not to feed my babies any food from a jar or can unless we happen to be away on holidays. i love the taste of homemade baby food, so does lil. we put lots of weird and wonderful things together for her, trying to encourage her to like the foods we eat as a family so that when she is eventually able to, she can eat meals with us. so until then, its peeling, chopping, mashing and freezing once a fortnight...
I remember doing the same thing with Liv. Homemade stuff is so much tastier and healthier! It'll be nice when Lil can join in with the family meal!
ReplyDeleteToni, you are simply amazing! How do you do it all?
ReplyDeleteMy intentions were to do the same as this when I was pregnant and I did it with fruits mainly but that widdled away soon after. If I were in Aus I would do the same as you as the produce is so fresh and fantastic but here in Wyoming,USA it is full of preservatives to survive the trek from the coasts, inland. I figured with the baby food here it would be the best of the best in comparison to the crap produce available.
I so admire your abilities. What a talented lady you are!!
Hi Toni,
ReplyDeleteI try to do the whole homemade food 99% of the time, am sometimes struck for new ideas. Could you share some of your combo's. Also hard as Ruby is allergie to Milk, Eggs, Tomato's and Nuts. Oh what fun,
Cheers

Totally unrelated but I made your chicken and corn soup last night and Simon loved it. He did roll his eyes when I said i got it off your blog as he think the whole blogger world is a bit of a laugh but he was impressed so ha ha to him.la
ReplyDeleteOh I hate having to do this! You are good making it fresh all the time. I have forgotten about all those little things you have to do with a little one in the family. It is great when they finally eat everything the family eats.
ReplyDeleteAhh, I love the pureeing days! Its so fun isn't it, coming up with new combinations? Makes it so much easier to get them to eat fruits and veggies further down the track when they've been weaned on the taste of "real" food.
ReplyDeleteZeek must be such a little guts. He eats like three times that much for lunch and dinner and still starts grunting for more! Bit embarrassing when you're out in public :)
ReplyDeleteI love doing the pureee thing! Last time I had a moulix to do it with so it took a bit of muscle. This time though I have a food processor. It's so satsfiying to see all the little containers lined up in the freezer ready for a hungry bubba. I try to use at least one organic piece of veg in each batch :-)
