My Mum is a great knitter...something I wish I had the patience for, but just never seem to get the hang of. Perhaps I'll have to choose a simple project and get her to give me some lessons - I'm liking the look of the very popular Milo vest.
She has just finished knitting Lil a gorgeous new cardi.
Lil chose the colour (with a little nudging from me!) and I'm happy that it is not totally girly pink and purple.
The last cardi that Mum knitted for Lil is still being worn...and I was surprised to look back on my blog and see that it was THREE years ago! So hoping that we get at least a couple of years out of this one!
Thanks Gramma for another gorgeous knit - feel free to make us more!!!
Now...if I was to take up a new hobby (because I really have a whole heap of spare time to fill - ha!) what quick and easy knitting patterns would you recommend?
Post Edit...
Pattern for cardi is "Cable Jacket" from "Twilleys of Stamford, Freedom Gorgeous, 464"
Yarn used is Color Works, 8 Ply, 100% Fine Merino Wool

ReplyDeleteWhat pattern did your Mum use for this cardigan? It is really cute.
ReplyDeleteHave a go at the milo, it really is quite simple and no SEAMS! Tikki really holds your hand throughout the pattern. As long as you've got the skills to knit, purl and knit into the front and back of a stitch, you're set. Leave the cable off until you're more experienced but even cabling is quite simple and the milo was my first attempt at it. Youtube is your friend.
ReplyDeleteI would recommend the "in threes" cardigan. It's a fantastic quick project and Maya wore the two that I made her all the time. I love Lil's cardi. Do you know the pattern?
ReplyDeleteHa! When I first started knitting and asked the same quesyion, Rachel gave me the same answer. And I listened to her and you should too. It's a great beginner's pattern and super cute and versatile. Have fun.
ReplyDeleteI'm imagining knitting those very same stitches..wish I had the pattern my Mum made us ...it's very similar...my Nan taught me whaen I was 5 yrs old to knit....I started the wonky squares/rectangles/scarves...then went on to dolls clothes and reading patterns... very quickly...tx for sharing..wish you could share the pattern ,too...lol.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the pattern information. I haven't knit in a long time but this might just get me back into it. I love how this one turned out and the color is great.
ReplyDeleteLooks very cosy and cuddly and I love the colour.
