.Zip-It.

Who's ready for some new little girl sewing? Here's my newest sewing pattern...
Zip-It!
Zip-It is a comfortable, easy to wear dress with loads of retro-style.
Featuring a chunky, bright coloured zipper down the front, it not only boasts funky style, it is also super easy to put on and off.

With contrast circular yoke and stand-out curved pockets, Zip-It is a bright, sunshiny dress boasting pure fun.

Don't be intimidated by the zipper - this is the easiest way of inserting a zipper you can try, perfect for a beginner!

Zip-It looks equally great on it's own or with leggings and layers on chilly days - a timeless dress for every occasion!
-->
I sketched this dress over a year ago and have been looking forward to seeing it come to life ever since! Zip-It is super practical, easy to wear and features a whole heap of simple details that really bring it to life.

I think the retro-style deserves brightly coloured fabrics, but can see Zip-It working equally well with solids - perhaps a random sprinkling of buttons sewn around the yoke or a bit of simple hand-embroidery would look great too.
Lil was such a trooper taking these photos - it was freezing cold and she still was a lovely little model (with the reward of painting my toenails when we were done - such simple pleasures and I now have rainbow toes!)

Zip-It is avaliable in two size ranges: Little Zip-It for sizes 0-5 and Big Zip-It for sizes 6-10. It can be purchased as an instant download PDF pattern from my website or paper versions of the pattern will start hitting stores soon. Check out my list of stockists here.

If you would like to win a copy of Zip-It, simply leave a comment on this blog post! (Please make sure you leave an email address with your comment. Giveaway will close Sunday 12th May and winner will be drawn at random).

  5. I love this one Toni!, I had an orange one very similar to this in the early 1970s, the story goes that my family was walking down through the streets of Launceston, Mum looked back to check on me behind the pram and I had unzipped my dress and walked straight out of it ;)
    I'd love to buy and make this one!

  9. Perfect dress for my Miss 6. Great to throw a long sleeved top on underneath with a pair of tights/leggings. Exactly what I need for her wardrobe. Shopping for girls clothing is crazy. So very little that is suitable.

  11. Oh Man! Please stop your sewing frenzy. I am DYING to get sewing but have banned myself from the machine until the end of this uni semester! I am, however, still stocking up on awesome fabrics in anticipation of my return!!! (And my own sewing frenzy)

  15. EEEEEK! I am totally in love with this. Actually, my favorite part is the wide-yoked collar that gives a sleeve on the dress. Thank you---I like to have options for sleeves on little girl's dresses, besides only inset-sleeves!
