.bibs for boys.

I have a feeling that after seeing the big pile of baby bibs on my sewing table yesterday a few of you are expecting an announcement...
Sorry to disappoint!  They are not for me - although Tommy has already claimed a couple!  It seems that all of my friends are having boy babies lately.  Four years ago I went bib crazy and made a whole heap (remember those, friends?!) with intentions to sell them.  It kinda fizzled but did mean that I had a BIG pile of bibs to give out for baby presents for the next few years.  I've got a little selection of girly-style ones still sitting in the present box, but nothing for the boys.  So, I went a little bit bib crazy again and made another 20.  Friends - stop having boys.  I want these to last me at least 1 year!
I like having a little stash of homemade gifts in the "present box" (do you have one of those?)...it means I can give a thoughtful, handmade gift without the last minute hassle of making something on the spot.
The bibs are lined with polar fleece (soft and absorbent) and I made the bottom of the bib a little wider than usual to cover the clothes better.  They are more suited to older babies/toddlers who make a mess when they are eating.

So that's the story behind the bibs.  If any of my friends reading this have (or have had recently) a baby boy in the next little while - this is what you will be getting!

P.S. I LOVED hearing that pretty much everyone else has a messy sewing table!!  If your table is nice and tidy - you are totally the odd one out (and we are all really jealous!)

They all look great!! So hard to find nice things for boys. What's your bib making method? I usually do a towelling (or something absorbent) back so it's just two layers. But I'd love to do some with a flannel layer in the middle with two cotton prints either side??

I too would like to know how you make them! Do you use a pattern or have you just made it up? I have been making your Peek-a-Boo toy sacks as boys birthday presents but the bibs look like a great baby gift!

Those are the most adorable bibs I've ever seen! I would've loved some of those when my kids were small, and with three girls you would've been able to dig into your 'girl stash'! :)

I have a tip for you Toni. Snap press. My best friend for things like these. Of course, to me nothing looks better than a button sewn on, but snaps have their uses too.

Here is where I got mine from, if you are interested:

Your bibs are the perfect gift. There is no such thing as having too many. The new moms will be happy receiving them. Love how you added your little tag. I am curious too as to where you found them, or did you make your own? I saw your post on your sewing table....messy girl here too, in fact it was such a big deal to me I made it my mission this new year to clean up my act, and it is an on-going process, is it not?

Oh to be as organised as you! I always have good intentions but very rarely have gifts ready made - it is always a last minute dash to finish off a small gift in time.

I love these bibs - I have 3 boys so it is lovely to see so many nice fabrics for boys - not always that easy to come by.

Ha :) It's funny you would end on a shout out to all the messy sewing tables out there. I have a sewing machine (that I'm terrified will eat me) and I am always attempting to sew something. Still, with no finished projects and very little progress, my sewing table is & stays a mess!

I'd love to see a tutorial please! The bibs are just wonderful. They're something I keep meaning to make but just never have found the perfect pattern (and I certainly don't have fabrics as lovely as yours). I've found snaps work better than velcro for older children... just too easy for them to yank off otherwise!

I love the bibs! I have a present box too. Mine is mostly filled with receiving blankets and burp cloths. I should expand a bit I guess!
