.I really do want to blog... .

...but this place of restful slumber has been calling my name for the last week!
We have been VERY spoiled with Aunty Carli and cousins staying at Gramma's house down the road for the last 7 days. Lil goes to bed for her 2 hour nap every day at lunch time, Oscar has had a constant play-mate and has been very well entertained and amused and lucky me gets to snuggle down in bed and catch up on on sleep lost from the night before! They have just left to go home on the aeroplaine back to Sydney now and Oscar isn't the only one who is crying! It has been fun to have them around to see Tommy during his first days of life and so nice that I haven't had to feel like I need to take the kids out of the house (except to Mum's) for entertainment yet.

Life with three children is going "so far, so good" - I can tell the older two are suffering a little bit though. More tantrums and breakdowns than usual, but nothing too bad yet. It must be difficult for older siblings (especially when they are both really young) to adjust to the new dynamics a baby brings. Less time for them with Mum and Dad. Learning to wait their turn while the baby is being fed, changed, bathed. I'm sure that in a couple of weeks everything will feel normal for them.

Tommy is a dream really. We had a few unsettled nights with him when I first came home from the hospital. My milk still wasn't in and he was HUNGRY! We resorted to this:
and it worked a treat. Oscar and Lil were both dummy babies (Lil still is!) We thought we might try and go dummy-less this time around, but he just wanted to suck and suck and I wasn't up for it! I always have that momentary feeling of guilt as I stick the big plastic teat into their mouth, but once it starts providing us both relief I soon get over it!
Jaron went back to work this week, a sad moment for me. It was so nice to have my sidekick around all last week to pick up all the slack! He is my lifesaver! The working day goes for sooo long - especially in winter time when it is too cold to venture outside for long. We have been extremely blessed to have sisters at Church assigned to bring us a weeks worth of dinners though, it has made each day this week soo much easier - I think I am going to forget how to cook after not having to do it for so long!
For the first time in my breastfeeding days I have found it easy! We had the usual, expected pain in the beginning but it only lasted 1 week this time. We must be doing something right because Tommy is going 3-4 hours between feeds and is generally pretty settled. I know things can change quickly though so am making the most of it while it lasts!

I better go get the big kids showered. I've been writing this post in dribs and drabs all afternoon so you can blame baby brain if it doesn' make sense...just wanted to record whats been going on in the mad house for posterity before I forget! Oh, and I have an inbox full of emails I need to reply to so don't think I'm snobbing you if I haven't said hello yet...I'll get there soon!

Lovely to see things are ging so well. Great news breastfeeding is going well- that must be a relief! Nice to see the photos- yep- that dummy looks huge in Tommy's mouth, but it looks like it keeps him content! Thinking of you guys, love marns

this blog sounds all too familiar. The wonder and excitement of a new baby, loving having extra family around, crying when they leave, losing sleep, making it up when you can, wishing hubby didn't have to go back to work - ever, the questions, the hopes, the whole rainbow of emotions. Takes me back, and I like it!

Oh Blanche - you are crazy. I hate the newborn stage. I love having a new baby, but it's all just a blur of sore boobs, no sleep and crying kids! I'm so glad you are getting some sleep during the day Tone. When Kobe was born Harri just turned into another person! He used to be quite placid and content most of the time. After Kobe was born he started crying a lot, chucking tantrums, and not at all like the old Harri we used to know. He wasn't jealous of Kobe as such, but just found it hard to not have as much time with Mum and Dad. Things are 'better' now, but I don't think we will ever see the old Harri back as he now has to compete with three brothers rather than two. Jay was good for the first month or so and then one night he had a bit of a break down and said he felt 'left out'. It is so hard having a new baby and trying to fit time in for the other kids PLUS doing the house work and trying to get some time for yourself. I'm sure Lil and Osc will cope really well and because they are closer in age (than Jay and Harri) they will just stick together until Mum no longer has a little baby constantly attached to her and they can get some more time one on one.
Sounds like I hate it hey! I don't - I am just glad I am out of the newborn stage now and onto a different one! :D

With the bfeeding down pat now, that's half the battle won. It's nice when it doesn't hurt. I hope you are also having a break from your 'to do' lists too. :)xx

I must have had mine all so close that they weren't old enough to care there was another baby there! I had Akkendi the other day though and all seth said the whole time was "No Kendi No play!" He was devastated i carried akkendi in from the car and made Seth walk! "No Walky!" he yelled the whole way up. I am with Lisa too, so glad the baby stage is over, but so glad there are others having babies still so i can cuddle them and hand them back.

I just found your blog from Melly and Me. What a gorgeous baby. And what gorgeous kids you have. Congrats on breastfeeding!! Not enough mom's do it and it's so important for that sweet one's health and well being.

Just for the record, you may think I'm crazy but I'm sticking by what I said, I love the new baby stage! Granted I was blessed with easy going kids who all slept and fed well, and the adjustment was always very smooth, but it's the tiny body, the smell of new skin, the way they look right after a feed or a bath, their total reliance on you, it's such a short stage and lock me up and throw away the key if you must but I always thought it went too fast!
Hope things are still going well for you Toni, enjoy every moment!
