.New Cushions.

I finished these cushions in December, but am only blogging about them now because I don't love them.  I like them, and they are a nice change from the old cushion covers but something isn't sitting right with me.
I think the problem might be the dark green colour in the fabric.  although I love green, I am not a fan of a deep, forest green.
I do love that they are made out of home dec fabric though and retain a great shape and are sturdier than regular cotton covers.  And I love the enclosed zipper finish - much nicer than seeing a zipper up one side seam.

But I'm still not in love with them.  And you have to be in love with nine cushions that are scattered around your loungeroom all the time!  So I think I'll keep them out for another few months and in the meantime start hunting for the perfect fabric to make new covers with!
Just another project to add to my list of things to do...
And what to do with the old covers??!

SUPPLIES:
Joel Dewberry, assorted prints from the Ginseng range (home decor weight fabric)

If you dislike them enough to be rid of them, I know a lady that is collecting cushions and cushion covers for flood relief - http://naturallycarol.blogspot.com/

:) I like them though!

Or donate them to 'Handmade for Christchurch' for auction - you can see their facebook page :)

What to do with them? Easy. There are usually local pregnancy centers near you that can always use some sprucing up. When I was pregnant and right after I did not have all the resources I needed to get to the doctor right away and than sometimes I needed diapers, parenting help, etc right after. They were a huge help! Most of the time it is a privately run organization and I am sure that your local center would love those covers or even a women's crisis center, or women's shelter near you. Something to brighten their otherwise dim days!

I think they are just goregous! But if you don't like them, I would also suggest that you give them away or sell them. If you don't like them now, you won't like them in a weeks time.

Giveaway Time!! they are perfect. We have been given a rather unattractive bottle green leather lounge suite, it will be there forever, but these would be the perfect thing to give it a lift.

let me know if they hit etsy!

I think they are lovely and I think you would have really liked the forest green if you had used that color and put a fat gathered piping on them!!:)

Yes, they would be a great item to donate to Handmade for Christchurch if you don't want to keep them.

Umm, well.... I'm with you on this one. They're nice....but I do LOVE your old ones more *wink*.
Do you miss them? I will take a photo of them in my lounge one day and post them on my blog for you to check out. OR...you could pop in one afternoon for a hot chocolate if you like and check out my summer home decorating & latest ETSY purchase :)

They look like something is missing. Perhaps a teal or chocolate coloured throw rug that lives with them on the lounge. Maybe even a lush black throw rug. Just an idea.

love or hate them ... I'd like a 'how to' tutorial please ... I need to make a couple of pillows for Lily's new bed and would like to hear more about these enclosed zips.

Why not turn them into a quilt, or give them away into a giveaway? Or donate them somewhere.. They're so pretty, I love them.

They're nice, but also a bit Christmasy. Would you consider adding some dark trim/braid (either black or brown - I can't quite see the colours enough) to tie the different fabrics together.
