.going green...and blue and pink.

Can you believe, that amongst a whole heap of other things in my life at the moment that these are making me sooo excited?!!!
After a LOT of umm-ing and ahh-ing, I finally took the plunge and decided to use cloth nappies! I someone had told me 6 months ago that I would be investing in cloth, I would have laughed out loud! I had a friend who was trying to tell me how wonderful they were as she was contemplating whether to buy them for her baby and I kept telling her she was crazy. Well, six months later, this is us! Not crazy, but just sick to death of going to the supermarket all too often to stock up on nappies, and sick of changing 7 little pooey nappies a day, and sick of all of the nappies that end up in the rubbish bin.

I did quite a bit of research and asking around and decided on the bum genius nappies as being my choice of preference and I am totally in love with them (well, as much as someone can be in love with a nappy anyway!). They come in the most lovely colours and are so soft and snuggly and remarkably, not as bulky as I had imagined a cloth nappy to be.

**time for a little poo talk now, so if thats not your thing skip this bit**
Lil is doing up to 8 little poos a day and of course, I have to put a whole new disposable nappy on her every time she does one which is a huge waste seeing as most of the time her nappy is still dry. Using cloth nappies, I place a disposable liner in the nappy and every time she does one of her little poos I just remove the liner and place a fresh liner in the same nappy and keep doing this until her nappy is wet enough to change!

I think the kids look soooo cute in them! When I first put Oscar in one he was kind of puzzled and said "okay, take it off now Mum"!! But soon forgot about it once his pyjamas were on. They have even worn them overnight with no leaks or complaints. I only purchased 3 to begin with just incase I didn't like them, but I am dying to go back online and purchase some asap so that we can have enough in stock to not have to use anymore disposables. For anyone interested, I found the cheapest place to purchase them from in Australia www.babysoftlandings.com.au - they are based in Launceston too so even better to support a local buisness!

I am excited to try these Tone. I also thought I would never try cloth nappies, but you and Elissa have convinced me to give them a go. I hate the waste of money disposibles are. I love the colours. I want to have my baby now so I can try them! :) Would love to know how many you think you would need so you have a good supply. Let me know when you figure it out :)

You'll wonder how you ever used disposables after a while. We bought cloth nappies for our daughter, friends told us they gave us 2 weeks, but five and a half months later we're still going strong. It's not as hard as people think and much better for baby's skin.
